A lift chair has to fit your entire body, with support for the back of your head. The most important measurement is the measurement between your kneecap and lower back as you are sitting: Your lower back has to fit up against the chair. If you get a too big chair, and there is a gap between your lower back and the chair, you will not be happy with your chair, and your lower back will not be properly supported, which will lead to fatigue.  You also have to make sure that you are sitting with your feet just gently resting against the floor.
